Day 13 - NEGEV
Spending the day in Negev was hot and sweaty, but rewarding. Negev means South. It is the southern part of Israel. We first stopped at Tel-Sheva just across from the modern city Ber-sheva. (From in the scriptures when we here Dan to Ber-sheba a lot - just meaning the boarder of Israel again.)Lots of scriptural events happened here for example this is where Abraham received the revelation to go sacrifice Isaac. We then went to Arad. Here we saw some more Tel's (these are big mounds of dirt it looks like, however cities would just continue to build on top of the previous settlements for various reasons.) Here we were also able to see various forms of temples and noticed different things that occured in these temples. In the end we sung High on a Mountain Top and Brother Judd (our Old Testament teacher) gave a great devotional. He mentioned that we do not have to rely on others to believe in God. We don't need to be basing our decisions on those things we find that were in the past, but rather read the revelation and listen to the inspiration we have been given today. Connect with your heavenly father for the truths of this restored gospel.
So these two pictures are a Tel and then of the Dead Sea (we only got to drive by it today, but we will get to swim later!)
